The 60-minute event started at a breakneck pace with the field covering their first 1.3 mile circuit in 4:45. At the end of lap one, Schlake and LBC/Highgear rider, Jay Thomas established a 10 second gap on the field, which held until Thomas rolled a tire near the midway point of the race and dropped out. Scheels/Specialized rider, Mark Savery capitalized on the Thomas mishap to take over second position. Meanwhile, Anthony Wilhelm (LBC/Highgear) was powering his way through the field after a slow start to pull within 20 seconds of second place with 4 laps to go. With two laps to go, Wilhelm took over second place with Savery holding on to secure third. The top five was rounded out with teammates Kevin Wilkins and Joe McWilliams of Team Kaos Cycling finishing fourth and fifth, respectively. On the Women's side, Team Kaos' Marie Neville took the race win with Kristi Newcomb taking second over LBC/Highgear's Renee Carter.
